DVD/DVR #67 - I’m not sure how I feel about this movie knowing it’s based on “the novel Push by Sapphire” and not a true story. Part of me feels like it’s really just an exploitation film. Another part of me feels like it’s a clever Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead-type turn on movies like Dangerous Minds that demands the extinction of that kind of Hollywood, feel-good, white-guilt garbage. And another part of me feels like I have no idea what I’m talking about. I do feel confident saying that the acting in this movie - from absolutely everyone - is fantastic.
