MOVIE #8 - I know everyone went nuts over Wall-E last year, but I thought Up was far superior movie both in vision and execution. (See my thoughts on Wall-E here.) So many unique and amazing ideas in Up. I spent the entire movie either laughing or crying. And - SPOILER - you have to love a movie that can take a non-sensical image, like a house suspended by balloons sinking beneath the clouds, and make it emotionally devastating. Pixar’s characters and storytelling are simply unmatched. I said this last summer, but in the era of Hotel for Dogs and G Force, it’s unfair to keep calling Pixar’s work that derogatory slur: Family Film. They’ve earned their own category, simply: Pixar.
